Managed IT Services in Altoona, PA

Altoona does not need an MSP that treats Blair County as a remote ZIP code. You need a team that already knows what a frozen EHR does to a Tuesday clinic on Plank Road, and that can stand in a Hollidaysburg closet when remote access is not enough.

InTech Network Solutions is a Central Pennsylvania MSP, founded in 2013. Healthcare is the work we built the company around — orthopedics, GI, and specialty practices. We also run managed IT for 25–500 employee businesses that have outgrown break-fix, want a co-managed partner beside an in-house IT person, or are finished explaining their network to a rotating national desk.

Call 814-264-2444 (automated attendant) or request a proposal. Leave a message or use the request button; we return business-hours requests. After-hours issues on monitored systems follow our operations process. We do not claim a human answers every inbound call.

Who we cover in Blair County

If you searched “managed IT Altoona PA,” you are usually in one of four seats:

  • A medical practice — often orthopedic, GI, or another specialty — with a clinic in Altoona and maybe a satellite in Tyrone, Huntingdon, or State College. Imaging, EHR, and front desk have to work while patients are in the building.
  • A 25–500 employee company along I-99 (Altoona, Logan Township, Duncansville, Hollidaysburg) whose IT is a mix of a local technician, a distant help desk, and unlabeled gear.
  • An organization that already has an IT person and needs nights, monitoring, backup, and Microsoft 365 help without a takeover. That is co-managed IT.
  • A company that still has an MSP on paper and is quietly unhappy. Tickets bounce. Backups are assumed. Nobody can say whether MFA is actually on. Start with an MSP second opinion if you are not ready to switch.

We work Altoona, Hollidaysburg, Tyrone, Duncansville, Bellwood, and the offices off Pleasant Valley Boulevard and 12th Avenue. From the same team we cover Johnstown, Bedford, Lewistown, Clearfield, Huntingdon, and State College. InTech is a service-area business. There is no public street address. Field work happens at your sites.

What managed IT means here (not break-fix with a logo)

Too much “managed IT” in this market is still break-fix with an agent installed. You find out the backup failed the morning after ransomware. You meet the technician during clinic hours.

InTech’s managed IT services are a monthly operating agreement.

Monitoring, patching, documentation. Endpoints, servers, and network gear are watched. Patches are planned around clinic. We write the environment down so the next ticket is not a scavenger hunt in a closet off the procedure hallway.

Help desk with your map. Portal or phone. Business-hours work is handled by engineers who have your documentation — not “a real person answers every call.” Named team, ticket trail, on-site when remote cannot finish. See help desk support.

On-site when Altoona needs hands. Password resets should be remote. A dead switch in Hollidaysburg, a new exam-room PC that will not talk to the EHR, or a firewall change you do not want done blind should not wait on a contractor from Harrisburg.

Microsoft 365, backup, security. MFA, sharing, leftover licenses — request a Microsoft 365 security and licensing review if that is the pain. Restore tests, not assumed backups: backup and disaster recovery. Cybersecurity and compliance work sit in the same agreement. For written gaps plus a 30/60/90 (not a legal opinion), use the HIPAA IT review.

Healthcare in Altoona is not generic office IT

Blair County medical operations have a shape. Orthopedic groups run imaging workstations that cannot freeze on a full clinic day. Procedure-based specialties care about uptime on the days the rooms are booked. Multi-site groups split an Altoona hub and smaller rooms in Tyrone or further out I-99. A generic MSP treats that like any 40-person office: no EHR-vendor coordination, no patch windows around clinic, and a “quick” firewall change that can take down e-prescribing.

InTech’s healthcare IT work is why the Altoona managed IT offer is not a re-skinned small-business package. We still take non-healthcare accounts in the 25–500 range — professional services, multi-location operators, firms that handle other people’s data — but the operating standard is the medical one.

First 30 days

Week 1 — access and truth. You stay owner of tenants and domains. We inventory the network and write down what the last provider skipped.

Week 2 — stop the obvious bleeding. MFA gaps, missing backups, unpatched edge devices, mailboxes forwarding to personal Gmail. Urgent versus after-clinic, in writing.

Week 3–4 — monitoring and rhythm. Agents, how front desk and billing actually open a ticket, a patching calendar, a backup restore test, and a short list of 60- and 90-day projects (controller replacement, M365 cleanup, the Wi-Fi in the 12th Avenue building that has never been right).

If you already have an MSP, do not start with a full cutover. Start with the second opinion. Stay if the environment is sound. Leave if it is not.

Altoona vs break-fix vs a national desk

Break-fix is still common from Tyrone down through Hollidaysburg. Cheap until a server dies on a Monday. No monitoring, no documented recovery, no owner of the Microsoft tenant except whoever last logged in.

A national MSP will sell a portal and a 24/7 number. Some of the tooling is fine. What they cannot do is stand in your Altoona closet, sit on a call with the EHR vendor, and be the same people who closed last month’s tickets. You become a queue.

InTech is the local operating team: remote first, on-site when Blair County needs hands, healthcare-literate by default. Founded 2013. Owner: Lance Schreffler. Phone 814-264-2444. Email contact@intechns.com.

We will not invent response-time percentages, review counts, or “we never miss a call.” Ask for references in the proposal conversation. This page will not carry fake quotes.

Nearby towns we drive

Hollidaysburg (county seat — not “Altoona overflow”), Tyrone satellites, Duncansville and Logan Township parks off the I-99 exits, Bellwood and northern Blair. On-site in those towns should not be a change order.

What we need for a real proposal

Scoped to your sites and stack, not a PDF of our menu. Tell us where users sit (Altoona only vs Altoona plus satellites), approximate headcount, EHR or line-of-business systems by name, who does IT today, and what broke last — or what you are afraid will break next. You get a written scope and a monthly number.

We take healthcare first and 25–500 employee Blair County businesses that want the same standard. We do not replace an IT person who is doing the job (co-managed IT). We do not answer every inbound call live.
