No-blame review · Central PA · Healthcare-first MSP
Unhappy with your MSP? Get a second opinion.
You do not have to fire your IT company to find out whether they are actually running the environment. Most practice administrators and IT directors already know something is off: tickets bounce, nobody can show a restore test, Microsoft licenses keep growing, and the only person who understands the firewall left two years ago. What you lack is an outside read you can put in a folder — or hand back to the current provider.
InTech Network Solutions is a Central Pennsylvania MSP founded in 2013. Healthcare is first (orthopedics, GI, specialty practices). We also work 25–500 employee organizations and co-managed environments. This page is for the companies that are unhappy with their current MSP, or that are “fine” until someone asks a question the MSP cannot answer.
Call 814-264-2444. Automated attendant. Leave a message or use the request button. We return business-hours requests. We do not claim a human answers every inbound call.
This is not a discovery call with a new label
“Free assessment” on most MSP sites means a sales meeting. The second opinion is a work product:
- A written list of what is sound.
- A written list of what is theater (monitoring that does not alert, backups that have never been restored, MFA that is “on” except where it matters).
- A 30/60/90 of fixes, ranked by clinical and business risk — not by what is easiest to invoice.
- A license and tooling note: what you are paying for twice, what you are paying for and not using.
You can stay with your current MSP. Many clients should. If the environment is tight, we will say so. If it is not, you have something more useful than a feeling.
We will not trash your provider to you or to them. No surprise email to their account manager. No “gotcha” during clinic. If you want us to present findings with them in the room, that is your call after you have read the document.
Who this is for
Practice administrators and owners in Altoona, State College, Huntingdon, Johnstown, Bedford, Lewistown, Clearfield, Tyrone, and the towns between — especially orthopedic, GI, and other specialty groups — who are tired of translating healthcare to a generic desk.
IT directors and the internal IT person who already know the gaps and need an outside voice so the physicians will fund the work. That often turns into co-managed IT, not a replacement.
Operators of 25–500 employee businesses that are not healthcare but have the same failure mode: an MSP that closes tickets and does not run the tenant.
If you have no MSP and you are on a local break-fix shop, say so on the form. The review still works; the baseline is just thinner.
What we look at (the no-blame checklist)
We do not need your life story. We need evidence.
Monitoring and patching
Is anything actually watched? Do alerts go somewhere a human will see after 6 p.m.? Are workstations and servers patched on a calendar that respects clinic hours, or whenever a technician remembers? Managed IT is this work on purpose. A lot of agreements only pretend.
After-hours and tickets
When the EHR is down at 7:10 a.m. in Hollidaysburg, who does what? We read ticket history (you export it, or you grant read-only) for bounce, reopen rates, and whether the same printer and MFA issues never die. We will not quote fake “minutes-to-resolve” stats of our own; we will tell you what *your* queue shows. How we run help desk is documented separately so you can compare process, not slogans.
Microsoft 365
MFA coverage, admin roles, guest sharing, forwarding rules, shared mailboxes at the front desk, leftover licenses. This is where quiet risk and quiet waste live together. Deep-dive offer: Microsoft 365 security and licensing review.
Backup and restore evidence
Not “we have a vendor.” A date, a scope, a result. EHR data, imaging, file shares, and M365 are different restores. See backup and disaster recovery. If there is no test, that is a finding, not a debate.
Identity, email, and endpoints
Local admins on every PC, shared clinical logins, no EDR, mail that is the front door for ransomware. Cybersecurity for a medical practice is not a firewall brochure. If you also need the HIPAA-shaped version of this write-up, run the HIPAA IT review — findings plus 30/60/90, not a legal opinion.
Whether you are overpaying
Two backup products, overlapping security agents, Microsoft SKUs nobody is using, a “premium” after-hours line that is still a ticket queue. We will put dollars next to duplicates when the invoices are in front of us. We will not invent a savings percentage in advance.
How the engagement runs
- Intake. Use the request button. Sites (Altoona vs State College vs multi-site), headcount, current provider, what is bothering you.
- Access you control. You remain the owner of Microsoft tenants, domain registrars, and firewalls. We use read-only or time-boxed admin with your approval. We do not take over the account as a condition of looking.
- Look-back, not a lecture. Monitoring consoles, backup logs, Entra/M365, endpoint lists, a sample of tickets, BAAs if you want the HIPAA track.
- Written findings. Sound / not sound / 30/60/90. You decide who sees it.
- Optional next step. Stay. Fix with them. Move to InTech managed IT. Or co-manage beside your person. Healthcare IT if the stack is clinical.
We work on-site in Blair and Centre counties when the evidence is in a closet, not a cloud admin center. Service-area business: no street address on this page.
What this is not
- Not a free month of managed IT.
- Not a legal or insurance opinion.
- Not a promise we will take the account. If we cannot staff your stack or your towns honestly, we will say no.
- Not a live-answer sales line. Automated attendant. Business hours on contact: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern.
Owner: Lance Schreffler. Founded 2013. Phone 814-264-2444. Email contact@intechns.com. Local pages: Altoona managed IT, State College MSP.
We will not put testimonials or review counts on this page. If you want to talk to a peer organization, ask after the findings. Fake quotes would undercut the entire offer.
InTech is a service-area business. No public street address. Automated attendant on inbound calls.
